A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL
The school began as Baptist Bible College. Canada in 1978, as a ministry of Bethel
Baptist Church, Simcoe, Ontario. Pastor Harry Strachan, who served as the
first president, gave capable leadership. The present pastor of the church
is Dr. Mark Bohman, who also serves as president of the College and Seminary.
On May 25", 1984, the 2nd and 3rd readings of Bill Pr15 "Baptist Bible
College Canada and Theological Seminary Act, 1984" took place by the Legislative
Assembly of the Province of Ontario. Royal assent was given on May 29'",
1984. Through this act the Province of Ontario, Canada, has authorized the
degrees, diplomas and certificates being offered.
Many God-called men and women have graduated from this institution to serve Christ
as pastors, missionaries, or other positions in fundamental Baptist churches.
Others, who have taken various courses, are serving as effective lay workers
in their churches.
THE NEED TODAY
There is a desperate need men and women to be trained to help meet the critical
spiritual needs of Canada and the world as a whole. We believe this institution
has a place in helping to meet this need. Through our Directed Study Distance
Learning program, courses can be taken and academic credit can be earned
without having to leave one's own local church. Some courses have been produced
before a live student body and are made available through such means as audio
tape, video tape and DVD. Other courses are by means of directed reading
and research assignments.
OUR POSITION
Bethel Baptist Church, including Baptist Bible College Canada and Theological
Seminary, believes that the King James Version of the Bible (KJV) is the preserved
Word of God for the English-speaking people of the world. We also believe in
personal and ecclesiastical separation, and we are opposed to modernism, neo-orthodoxy,
new evangelicalism and the charismatic movement
OUR PURPOSE
1. To assist local Independent Fundamental Baptist Churches in the training
of their people for effective Christian service. This includes, not only those
involved in vocational Christian ministry, but lay people serving as deacons,
Sunday School teachers, ushers, youth workers, children's workers, etc.. We
seek to maintain a strong emphasis in church planting and missions.
2. To assist those already involved in vocational Christian
service (pastors, missionaries, staff members, etc..) to upgrade
themselves without having to leave their present place of ministry.
PLEASE NOTE:
This institution is for the purpose of serving the Independent Fundamental
Baptist Church Constituency. Even though those from other religious backgrounds
may take individual courses for personal enrichment, only students who are
in good standing as an active member of an Independent Fundamental Baptist
Church may graduate from BBCC & TH with a certificate, diploma or degree. |
